Itinerary
Day 1 - Thursday Arrive in SLC and transfer to Elko
Arrive in SLC by 4:00pm and we will depart immediately for Elko, Nevada. We'll stop briefly during the 4-hour drive to check out the Bonneville Salt Flats, and to grab light refreshments in Wendover, before continuing on to Nevada for dinner and an early night.
Night in Elko, Nevada

Day 2 - Friday The Search for Himalayan Snowcock
This morning, you'll rise very early (3:15 AM) and depart for a 45-minute drive to the Ruby Mountains where you'll hike 2-miles from an elevation of 8,700' up to nearly 10,000' to scan the slopes of the peaks above for the introduced and established Himalayan Snowcock. Here you may also encounter things like Black Rosy-Finch, Clark's Nutcracker, Mountain Bluebird and incredible scenery. After the morning hike the afternoon will be spent resting and relaxing. If the morning was a success, we will spend the last few hours of daylight birding a nearby reservoir for migrant waterbirds!
Night in Elko, NV

Day 3 - Saturday South Fork, Migrant Traps, and End of Tour
This morning is a backup to try for the snowcock again if needed. Hopefully, Friday was a success and we can head to South Fork Recreation Area to check on waterbird migration, before starting to bird our way back to Utah, checking out several waterbird, and songbird traps along the way. We should be back in SLC no later than 6:00 PM, where we will have dinner before dropping you off at local hotels or the airport for late flights.
